Tango Festival festival in

Tango Buenos Aires

The World Cup of Tango

The Heart of Argentine Tango

The tango was born in Buenos Aires, and every year this heritage is celebrated at Buenos Aires Tango - the world's biggest tango festival.

This 13-day tango extravaganza has activities taking place all over the city, but at its heart has the Tango Mundial - the World Cup of tango - with thousands of dancers from all over the world flocking to Buenos Aires.

Things start with a huge open-air tango dance which usually involves tens of thousands of people dancing in the streets, and over the course of the two weeks, over half a million people will be involved as dancers, spectators at the many music and dance shows (in 2020 there will be over 50 ticketed events, not to mention the on-street shows) so it's no exaggeration to say that Buenos Aires is really taken over by the tango every August!

And don't panic if you're not an expert - there are hundreds of free classes taking place throughout the week, so you can watch a few of the professionals and then try it out for yourselves...

All our holidays are completely tailor-made, so if you'd like to plan a trip with the Tango Festival at its heart, or if you'd just like to dip into the fun for a day or so as part of a longer tour of Argentina, just get in touch and let us know!
