When The Going Gets Tough...

The Dakar Rally

In 2008, the Dakar Rally left its ancestral home in Africa to head for the incredible landscapes of South America. It's proved a huge hit both with people in South America and the international TV audience, who get to tune in and enjoy some of the world's most spectacular race landscapes.

Fast forward to 2019, and after a series of hugely successful stages last year, Peru not only retains its place in 2019, but in fact will be hosting the entirety of the Dakar 2019 race - the first time the whole race has ever been held in one country.

Everything begins on the 6th January 2019 with departure from the Peruvian capital, Lima, before heading south along the coast to the desert around Pisco and then on up to Arequipa via San Juan de Marcona. From here bikes and buggies will do two marathon stages to Mocquegua and back to Arequipa, while other competitors will go all the way to the Chilean border at Tacna. Then from Arequipa everyone will head back to Marcona and then Pisco, returning to the finish line in Lima on January 17th.

2019 Dakar Rally Holiday Packages

We will be offering packages to follow the whole race, but we are still finalising these just at the moment - they should be ready in the next week. However, we already have two packages ready to allow you to follow the start and the end of the race.

Of course, everything we do is tailor-made, so we could combine one (or both!) of these packages with trips to see some of the rest of Peru, so if you'd like to see Machu Picchu while you're in Peru - no problem!
