Detailed Itinerary
Day One – Glacier Trek on Perito Moreno
We will pick you up in El Calafate this morning and drive out into the Glaciers National Park to enjoy a day of stretching our legs amid some of the most spectacular scenery in Argentina. We will begin by heading down to the shores of Lake Argentino to board a boat which will take us right up to the south wall of the colossal Perito Moreno glacier. This enormous river of ice is 3km wide and up to 70m in height, with colours ranging from brilliant white, through to exquisitely pure blues and turquoises. We will disembark just in front of the glacier and walk up to the very edge of this enormous river of ice before putting on ice crampons and beginning a 2-hour trek right across the glacier itself. The trek will take a circular route and is an amazing experience as well as being the best way to appreciate the sheer scale of Perito Moreno. We will end back by the lake shore, where we can extend the trek into the lush Magellanic forest of the area, before catching the boat back to a series of walkways and viewpoints a few hundred metres away from the glacier face, so that you can get some fantastic panoramic photos to complete the day.
