The 2020 Lima Film Festival
Although the powerhouses in Latin American cinema are undoubtedly Argentina and Mexico, the big event in the calendar is always the annual Lima Film Festival, and 2020 looks set to be the best yet.
Spread across multiple venues in Lima, from cinemas and theatres to cultural centres and open air screenings in parks and squares across the city, the 2020 festival will take place from May 29th to June 6th 2020 and gives you the chance to see some of the best cinematic talent in South America.
For example, previous festivals have seen premieres of films like the Oscar-winning Relatos Salvajes (Wild Tales), and the 2019 Lima Film Festival had showings by some of the best upcoming directors in the region, such as Colombia's Franco Lolli.
As well as full-length films, part of the fun of the festival is in taking advantage of the large numbers of shorts which are on show - many from local directors - and trying to spot the next breakthrough director or star...
