The National Paso Horse Tournament
Known for their grace and beauty, Peruvian Paso Horses are prized all over the world, and the absolute best of breed are shown each year in the National Paso Horse Festival in Lima.
The festival takes place at the Mamacona stables on the very southern edge of Lima, just by the pre-Inca sacred site of Pachacamac, and attracts an international crowd of horse breeders and riders who are all keen to see these exquisite horses showing their stuff.
As well as the horse tournament itself, there are also shows of the marinera dance which is so closely associated with the Paso tradition, and a celebratory feast at the end of each day. Even if you're not a horse-fancier it's a great experience, and if you are, you'll be in heaven!
