The Heart of Argentine Tango
The tango was born in Buenos Aires, and every year this heritage is celebrated at Buenos Aires Tango - the world's biggest tango festival.
This 13-day tango extravaganza has activities taking place all over the city, but at its heart has the Tango Mundial - the World Cup of tango - with thousands of dancers from all over the world flocking to Buenos Aires.
Things start with a huge open-air tango dance which usually involves tens of thousands of people dancing in the streets, and over the course of the two weeks, over half a million people will be involved as dancers, spectators at the many music and dance shows (in 2018 there will be over 50 ticketed events, not to mention the on-street shows) so it's no exaggeration to say that Buenos Aires is really taken over by the tango every August!
And don't panic if you're not an expert - there are hundreds of free classes taking place throughout the week, so you can watch a few of the professionals and then try it out for yourselves...
All our holidays are completely tailor-made, so if you'd like to plan a trip with the Tango Festival at its heart, or if you'd just like to dip into the fun for a day or so as part of a longer tour of Argentina, just get in touch and let us know!
