World Youth Day

The Pope Comes to Rio

2013 World Youth Day

The World Youth Day actually stretches over a full week, and is the largest Catholic festival in the world to be aimed at young people. In 2013, it will be held in Rio de Janeiro, and will mark the new Pope's first visit to Brazil.

The location for World Youth Day changes every year, and in fact Rio was announced as the 2013 venue back in 2011, but with a new Argentinian Pope, the excitement in Rio has only increased. The week features a variety of exhibitions, workshops, concerts and other events, with hundreds of thousands of young people expected to attend over the week.

It's an event even non-Catholics should be aware of, as we can tell you that hotel rooms in Rio have been booked up for months for these dates!
