Tips for Holidays in the Galapagos

Holidays in the Galapagos Islands don't come cheap, and so we know you'll want to make sure that you make the most out of your holiday in the Galapagos Islands. With that in mind, here are some of our top tips to make sure your Galapagos holiday goes perfectly.
  • If you are visiting the Galapagos as part of a longer trip, remember that you can leave your main luggage in Quito and just take what you need on to the Galapagos Islands.
  • Don't forget to allow some time to see mainland Ecuador. At an absolute minimum, allow some time to visit Quito and the Cotopaxi National Park.
  • Remember that you need to pay the National Park fee ($100) on arrival in the islands, and in cash.
  • Bring two swimming costumes/trunks so that one will always be dry.
  • Bring crocs/teva style sandals. On a wet landing, flip-flops just don't cut it.
  • Pack spare batteries - most people massively underestimate how much they'll use their camera.
  • Don't forget reading matter. You can sometimes have quite long periods between the islands, and although many yachts have small libraries and DVD players, a good book or two will definitely come in handy.
