Detailed Itinerary

Day One – Your South American Honeymoon Begins

You’ll begin your honeymoon today in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina and one of the world’s great cities. On arrival we’ll meet you and take you to your hotel in the upscale neighbourhood of Recoleta. You’ll be having a full city tour tomorrow, but you’re just a few blocks from all the main sites, as well as from some of the city’s best restaurants and cafes, so you’re perfectly placed to head out and start soaking up the Buenos Aires atmosphere.

Day Two - City Tour in Buenos Aires

Today we’ll be taking you for a tour of the major sights in the city. We will visit the historic centre, including the famous Plaza de Mayo where the demonstrations by mothers of the ‘disappeared’ against the military government took place, as well as the Casa Rosada from whose balcony Evita addressed the crowds below. We will also visit the beautiful Cathedral before heading to the tango districts of San Telmo and La Boca, also home to the famous Boca Juniors football team. We will also visit the exclusive Palermo and Recoleta areas, with their leafy avenues and grand houses, superb restaurants and boutique shopping before ending up in the riverside district of Puerto Madero to enjoy some superb Argentinean cuisine... (Breakfast included)

Day Three - Free day in Buenos Aires

We’ve left you with a full free day in Buenos Aires, so you have time to relax and take everything in. There’s so much to see and do here that those who like to stay busy can explore the historical and cultural sights while others can sit back with a glass of wine or perhaps some excellent Argentinian ice-cream and relax... (B)

Day Four – Fly to Iguazu

After breakfast this morning we'll pick you up and take you back to the airport to catch a flight to Puerto Iguazu, on the border with Brazil. We'll be there to meet you and take you to your uber-stylish hotel just on the edge of the Iguazu National Park. You'll arrive in the late afternoon so you have plenty of time to wander around and enjoy the laidback atmosphere. (B)

Day Five - Iguazu Falls (Brazil side)

This morning we will take you for your first visit to the incredible Iguazu Falls. Higher than Niagara Falls, and wider than Victoria Falls, Iguazu will take your breath away with its spectacular beauty and awesome power. We will visit today from the Brazilian side, where a long walkway along the canyon top allows you to appreciate the true scale of Iguazu from above. You'll get some fantastic photos, as you work your way along to a viewpoint giving you a panoramic vista of the famous Devil's Throat, where 14 separate falls combine in a single 350-foot drop, sending spray over 100 feet into the air for a dramatic permanent rainbow. (B)

options...
  • For an added taste of adventure, how about taking a white-water rafting trip on the Rio Iguazu?
  • Or if wildlife is your thing, why not arrange a short trek in the Iguazu National Park?

Day Six - Iguazu Falls (Argentina side)

Today we will re-visit Iguazu Falls, but this time from the Argentinian side, where a system of walkways projecting out into the middle of the waterfall system allow you to really feel the power of the waterfalls all around you. It’s a fantastic way to get up close and personal with this awesome natural spectacle. After spending the morning re-visiting the falls, we will take you back to your hotel for a final night here in Iguazu. (B)

Day Seven – Travel to Rio

Your South America honeymoon will continue this morning as we take you to the airport in Foz do Iguazu, on the Brazilian side of the falls, to catch the flight to Rio. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon and be driven to the iconic Copacabana Palace hotel, right on Copacabana Beach. This afternoon you might want to take a walk along the waterfront and perhaps take in an evening meal on your first night here in Rio. Of course, since this is your first night on holiday in Brazil, then if you're feeling up to it then Copacabana is a great place for a night out... (B)

Day Eight - Tour of Rio: Corcovado and Tijuca National Park

You'll have some free time this morning to relax, and then this afternoon we will pick you up from your hotel and drive through Rio to the base of Mt. Corcovado. Here we will board a funicular railway which carries us up through the dense Tijuca Atlantic rainforest to the top of the mountain and the base of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue that has become one of the most famous symbols of Rio, and indeed Brazil. The views over the city from the top are absolutely amazing and it's the perfect way to get your bearings and pick out where to visit next! (B)

Day Nine - Free Day on Honeymoon in Rio

A honeymoon isn't a holiday if you don't have a chance to relax so today is all yours - you could head to some of Rio's famous sights, such as Ipanema Beach or the bohemian Leblon area. You could take a trip to the Maracana or to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain or just kick back in Copacabana and go for a stroll along the waterfront... (B)

Day Ten – Luxury Beach Time

After all your adventures we think you're due some quality beach time, so today we’ll take care of that as we pick you up in Iguazu and take you back to the airport for a short flight back to Rio. We will be there to meet you and drive you north out of the city to the beautiful sandy beaches of the Buzios peninsula. This glamorous area was originally made famous by Brigitte Bardot and is now home to some of Brazil's best beach hotels. It's the perfect place to soak up some sun, go for a snorkel, or just enjoy a caipirinha as you watch the sun set over the ocean... (B)

Days Eleven to Thirteen - Relaxing in Buzios

We like to make sure that our honeymoons in Brazil give you plenty of time for relaxation, and these four days give you just that. As well as all the facilities of your hotel, you have a wide choice of beaches in the area, from the wild east coach beaches that draw surfers and windsurfers, to the calm, clear waters of the west coast, so there really is something for everyone. (B)

Day Fourteen - Last day of your South America honeymoon

Most flights from Rio back to Europe depart quite late in the evening, so you’ll have some free time today to catch some sun and go for a swim. Then we’ll pick you up in the afternoon and make sure your Brazil honeymoon ends perfectly by getting you to the airport in plenty of time to catch your flight home. (B)

Options for your Honeymoon in South America

Visit to Colonia

Day Trip to Colonia – from £185pp

Just across the wide River Plate from Buenos Aires, the beautiful Uruguayan town of Colonia del Sacramento is one of South America’s real gems: the cobbled streets and colonial houses are like stepping back in time and a day spent here is the perfect contrast with the hustle, bustle and sophistication of Buenos Aires. This full-day trip takes you by fast boat across the Rio Plata to Colonia, where you’ll have a guided tour and then plenty of free time to wander and explore at your own pace before we pick you up and take you back across the river to Argentina.

Cafayate Wine Tour

Argentina Wine Tasting Tour – from £795pp

While you're in Argentina, why not take a trip into the northern wine country around the beautiful town of Salta to experience some of most interesting developments in Argentinian wine? This 3-day extension takes you to Salta and through the glorious landscapes of the Cafayate and Cachi valleys to visit some of the super-high altitude vineyards (many are above 1500m) which specialise in whites from the uniquely Argentinian Torrontes grape and are producing some of Argentina's finest wines.

Pantanal Wildlife

The Pantanal - 3 days from £895pp

This trip begins with a flight into the heart of Brazil and the state of Mato Grosso. We will land at the state capital of Cuiaba and from here will travel up to the edge of the giant Pantanal wetlands. Covering an area larger than England, the Pantanal is the best place in Brazil for wildlife-spotting (even better than the Amazon!) and on our trip downriver to the Rio Mutum lodge, we will hope to see some caiman, monkeys, capybaras and the hundreds of different species of birds. You’ll spend the next two days observing the area's wildlife by boat and on horseback, and you’ll see such as giant otters, iguanas, deer, anteaters and maybe even the elusive jaguars...

What's Included?

Our standard price for this South America Honeymoon is £2995 per person, which is based on two sharing a double or twin room in our preferred 5-star hotels.

That price includes all your accommodation, internal transport, transfers, tours, guides and entrance fees, plus breakfast every day and dinner every day in Porto de Galinhas.

We don't have any "local payments" or sneaky charges: everything you have read about on this itinerary is included in that price. And because everything we do is tailor-made, we don't have fixed departure dates or minimum numbers for our trips. Outside of national holidays or other special events, this price is valid for the whole of 2020.

International flights

So with the exception of a few meals, everything on your holiday is included. What we don't include as standard is your international flights, because with these you have a huge range of options depending on the date you want to travel, the route you want to fly, and your preferred departure airport in the UK.

We aren't tied to any particular airline, and we will be delighted to discuss all options with you, or you can even book the flights yourself if you prefer: it's totally up to you.
