Detailed Trek Itinerary

Day One – Trek to Laguna de los Tres

After breakfast this morning we will drive from El Chalten up to El Pilar, from where we will start our trek through the woods on the western side of Mount Polo. We'll climb up to the Poincenot campsite, enjoying some splendid views down the Rio Blanco valley and over to the Piedras Blancas glacier. From the campsite we will start our climb up the Laguna de los Tres. There are no two ways about it: this is a tough - although non-technical - climb, but the scenery at the top is your reward: Mount Fitzroy in all its glory it revealed before you, alongside the the beautiful Lake Sucia, where we'll stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will descend by a slightly different route, passing the lovely Lake Capri, before we arrive back in El Chalten this evening. (L)
