Patagonia in Argentina and Chile
14-day Holiday in Argentina and Chile for £2395pp

Luckily, the border is easily crossed, and this 14-day holiday combines the best of Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia so you needn't miss out on any of the amazing sights.

You will then have the rest of the day free to relax and enjoy one of South America’s most sophisticated capital cities.
- Most international flights arrive in the morning, so if you'd like us to arrange something for you this afternoon, such as a trip to one of Chile's famous vineyards or out into the beautiufl surrounding countryside, just ask!
Day Two - Tour of Santiago
This morning we will pick you up and take you for a tour of colonial and modern Santiago, so you can get a feel for the contrast between old and new which typifies the city. We will start off with a look at the grandest of Santiago’s colonial buildings, such as the imposing Presidential Palace and Mint Building, and the neo-classical Cathedral. We will then travel through some of Santiago’s most modern districts on our way to San Cristobal hill. Here a funicular railway takes right to the top so we can finish the tour with a fantastic view over the city. (Breakfast included)
Day Three – Fly to the Lake District
We will pick you up this morning and take you to the airport for your flight south to Puerto Montt, in the heart of the Chilean Lake District. We’ll be waiting to meet you to drive the short distance to your hotel in Puerto Varas, on the shores of the beautiful Lake Llanquihue, with the snow-capped Osorno volcano just to the north. (B)
Day Four – Free Day at Lake Llanquihue
You will have some free time today to enjoy exploring around the shores of Lake Llanquihue, with its string of pretty lakeside villages. It’s a great place to do some walking and you can enjoy some spectacular views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. (B)
Day Five - Chiloe Island
We'll head out of Puerto Varas today as we cross over the Chacao Channel to the island of Chiloé. Supposedly the origin of the Robinson Crusoe story, Chiloé has retained its own mythology, architecture and culture to this day, as well as several endemic animals such as the Darwin's Fox and the small deer-like animal called Pudu. (B/L)
Day Six - Lake Cruise to Bariloche
Today offers a fantastic experience as you cross the Andes themselves and head back into Argentina. Aside from a few short road connections, the journey is principally by comfortable catamaran across the crystal-clear mountain lakes of Llanquihue, Todos Los Santos, Frias and Nahuel Huapi, giving you the chance to enjoy some of the most beautiful and tranquil scenery in the world before you arrive in the lovely town of Bariloche this evening. (B/L)
Day Seven - Free Day in Bariloche
We have left today free for you to relax and enjoy exploring Bariloche. There are a range of gentle walks available from the town itself, whether along the lakeshore or into the hills around the town, or you can just enjoy the cute shopping streets and quiet plazas of Bariloche, while you sit back with views of the lake and get those postcards written. - We'd hugely recommend a visit to the beautiful 'Seven Lakes' of San Martin de Los Andes
- Or if you'd like to stretch your legs, a trek up to the summit of Cerro Challhuaco?
- If you'd like all the scenery but without too much walking, then why not hire a car for a day?
Day Eight - Travel to Southern Patagonia
This morning we will pick you up and take you to the airport for a flight south to El Calafate. This lovely little town on the shores of Lake Argentino is the perfect base for exploring Argentinian Patagonia. We’ve left the rest of the day free for you to enjoy the beautiful views of mountains, flower-rich meadows and the flamingos grazing in the lake shallows as you get used to the higher altitude. (B/L)
Day Nine - Perito Moreno Glacier
After breakfast today we will travel out into the Los Glaciares National Park to visit the colossal Perito Moreno glacier. This enormous river of ice is 3km wide and up to 70m in height, with colours ranging from brilliant white, through to exquisitely pure blues and turquoises. We will walk along several different paths to give us views from above and alongside the glacier, and finally from below the enormous wall of ice itself. In the tranquility of the surrounding countryside, you can actually hear the slow grinding of the ice as the glacier moves. It’s an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of any holiday in Patagonia. (B/L)
Day Ten - Tour of Torres del Paine National Park
The spectacular Torres del Paine are immense granite peaks which rise out of the surrounding countryside, and are the centrepiece of the Torres del Paine National Park just over the border in Chilean Patagonia. We will have a full day tour of the Park today, with two short hikes allowing you to enjoy the multitude of brightly-coloured glacial lakes and the stunning mountains, as well as the famous Torres themselves. We will cross the border back into Argentina and return to El Calafate this evening. (B/L)
